APDWF Young Investigators Award

Purpose

The purpose of the Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of his/her career. Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries. The Award will be presented at the APDW 2020 and is jointly sponsored by the APDWF and the JGHF.

Application requirement

Applicant must be in early stages of his/her career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology. Training certification of the presenting author will be requested during online abstract submission. Applicant must be first author of abstract and a registered participant of the congress. The shortlisted oral abstract must be presented by applicant during the meeting.

Selection process

Applicant should select ‘APDWF/JGHF YIA’ during submission of abstract for oral presentation. Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee and all successful applicants (up to nine (9) best YIA papers) will be notified in July 2020.  Three (3) awards will be given to the best three (3) papers presented:

  • 1st Prize: USD 2,000
  • 2nd Prize: USD 1,500
  • 3rd Prize: USD 1,000

Assessment

Each presenter shall be given 10 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes to defend his/her work. In assessing the applicants for the awards, the panel of judges will consider the following criteria:

  • Quality and scientific merit of the abstract: 50%
  • Quality of the presentation: 25%
  • Ability to defend the work: 25%

APDWF Poster Distinction Award

Purpose

The purpose of the Posters of Distinction Award is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of his/her career and who prefer to present his/her papers in poster mode. Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries. The Award will be presented at the APDW 2020 and is sponsored by the APDWF.

Application Requirement

Applicant must be in the early stages of his/her career i.e. up to 5 years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology. Training certification of the presenting author will be requested during online abstract submission. Applicant must be first author of abstract and a registered participant of the congress. The shortlisted abstract must be presented as moderated poster by applicant during the meeting.

Selection Process

Applicant should select ‘APDWF Posters of Distinction Award’ during submission of abstract for oral presentation. Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee and all successful applicants (up to twenty-four (24) moderated posters) will be notified in July 2020. A maximum of five (5) Posters of Distinction shall be awarded at USD 1,500 each.

Assessment

Each presenter shall be given 2 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes to defend his/her work. In assessing the presenters for the awards, the panel of judges will consider the following criteria:

  • Quality and scientific merit of the abstract - 50%
  • Quality of the presentation - 25%
  • Ability to defend the work - 25%

APDWF-JGHF Travel Grant

Purpose

The APDWF/JGHF Travel Grants are to provide the opportunity for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of his/her career to broaden their education and experience in the field of gastroenterology/ hepatology. Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries.

Up to 100 travel grants will be presented. The award is sponsored by the APDWF and JGHF. APDWF and JGHF will offer up to 80 and 20 travel grants, respectively.

Application Requirement

Applicant must be less than 45 years of age during application and in the early stages of career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology. Presenting author should provide training certification and curriculum vitae (CV) with list of papers presented or published during online abstract submission. Applicant must be first author of abstract and a registered participant of the congress. The shortlisted abstract must be presented as moderated poster by applicant during the meeting. 

Description

The grant can only be used to fund attendance at APDW 2020 and is not transferable. Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend education and training activities. Travel grant recipients will attend the Young Clinician/Investigator Program, held one day before the pre-congress day of APDW 2020. One (1) night hotel accommodation allowance will be offered to awardees for attending the APDWF/JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Program.

Acceptance Notification

Successful applicants shall be notified in July 2020.


MSGH Travel Grant

Purpose

The MSGH Travel Grants are to provide the opportunity for delegates from the developing nations to broaden their education and experience in the field of gastroenterology/ hepatology. 

Application Requirement

Applicant must be a Malaysia Trainee or must be from a Low-income or Lower-middle-income nation as defined by the World Bank.

Description

The grant can only be used to fund attendance at APDW 2020 and is not transferable. The grant covers the cost of flight and accommodation up to USD 500 or MYR 2,000.

Acceptance Notification

Successful applicants shall be notified in July 2020.
